Description

“That was too much fun. I thought there’d be a two-drink cover charge for the entertainment,” is a typical response to Billy’s presentations. “And I learned a lot, too.”

Billy Goodnick has been honing his mantra of “beautiful, functional, sustainable gardens” for decades. As an award-winning designer who worked his way up from swinging a pick to landscape architect, his presentations and writing are enriched by decades of professional practice. He has taught master gardeners, homeowners and college students to design like pros, while instilling a message of planet-friendly principles.

  • To combat the effect of listening to a speaker in a dimly lit room, Billy turns on his stand-up comic timing and rock musician’s attitude to keep audiences alert and laughing. His

Billy’s writing credits include his Cool Green Gardens blog at Fine Gardening Magazine, is bi-weekly SoCal-centric posts for Edhat.com, and 805 Living Magazine.

The best way to understand what a Billy Goodnick talk is like is to treat yourself to a few of his on-line articles: Lots of great information wrapped in an upbeat, sometimes snarky delivery. Billy is also a founding member of the Lawn Reform Coalition, a group dedicated to helping gardeners rethink the siren song of the “perfect lawn.”

It really made sense of the design process

Doug Hertzog from Mill Creek, WA - 02/10/2012 15:01:19

Billy was definatly worth listening to. He's one of the better speakers I've heard during many visits to the Seattle Flower and Garden Show over the years. His humor was fun but more importantly, I feel I can make an intelligent and attractive design for my own garden now. It really was a How To. A little more of a handout to outline the process would have been nice as I couldn't write fast enough. Thanks.

Educational and Entertaining

Marcy Sheffield from camarillo, ca - 09/03/2011 11:45:27

Billy is the perfect combination of an entertaining and eductional speaker. I've attendedseveral of his talks and have learned so much each time. I enjoy his sense of humor and his effortless way of imparting tons of information. Whether he's discussing garden design and theory or zombie weeds, I have become a better gardner because of it. Thank you Billy!
